Classic lash extensions: Hybrid | Full Set aftercare (first 48 hours + sweat-proof tips)
By Deka Lash Greentree | July 8, 2026
If you loved that clean, calm appointment vibe, keep that same energy for the next two days: your #1 rule is to keep your Hybrid | Full Set dry and oil-free for 24 to 48 hours so the adhesive fully cures. That means no steamy showers, no sauna, no sweaty workouts, and no eye makeup right away. Do this part well and your lashes tend to stay fuller longer.

Quick context: Our Hybrid | Full Set blends Classic and Volume for that “natural but noticeable” look. Your appointment is about 120 minutes, and the set is $210. Aftercare is what protects that density you came in for.
First 24 to 48 hours: the curing window that decides your retention
In our Greentree studio near the Mt. Lebanon border, we see the same pattern all year in Pittsburgh. When lashes get hit with moisture, steam, or oil too soon, they shed early. So for the first 24 to 48 hours, keep things boring on purpose.
Do this
- Keep them dry: avoid water directly on the lashes, and skip face-washing that splashes up into the lash line.
- Keep them oil-free: avoid oil-based moisturizer, eye cream, cleansing balm, and makeup remover around the eyes.
- Sleep smart: try not to smash your face into the pillow the first couple nights. Pressure equals twisty lashes.
- Hands off: no rubbing, no picking, no “just fixing this one” in the mirror.
Skip this (even if it’s tempting)
- Hot yoga, sauna, steam rooms, and super-hot showers.
- Heavy sweating. If you commute in and out of the Mt. Lebanon T, keep a clean spoolie in your bag and gently brush if humidity makes them feel “fluffy” or tangled.
- Mascara and tightlining in the first 48 hours. You’ll end up scrubbing to remove it, and scrubbing is the enemy.
- Lash curlers. Mechanical pressure can snap extensions and stress your natural lash.
Sweat-proof reality check: if you have to work out during the first 48 hours, we generally recommend choosing a lower-sweat option. Sweat plus heat can weaken adhesive before it finishes curing.
Days 3 to 7: keep the “fuller, face-framing” look without irritation
A lot of our Pittsburgh clients love Hybrid because it frames the face and still feels comfortable. We also hear feedback like “easy with glue and placement” and “no irritations, ” and aftercare is a big part of keeping it that way once you’re back in real life.
Start gentle cleansing, then keep it consistent
After that first 24 to 48 hours, wash your lashes daily with an oil-free cleanser. Clean lashes keep the bases from getting sticky, clumpy, or itchy. This matters in Pittsburgh’s four seasons. Summer sweat and pool season in July can leave salt and sunscreen residue near the lash line. Winter indoor heat can dry your skin and make people reach for heavier eye creams, and those oils can break down adhesive.
Avoid the sneaky retention killers
- Oil-based skincare around the eyes, including cleansing balms and thick night creams.
- Long steam exposure (even if you waited two days). Heat and humidity still shorten wear time.
- Pool chemicals and saltwater. If you swim, rinse your face afterward and cleanse your lashes once you’re home.
- Touching the lash line when you’re stressed or tired. It adds up fast.
Busy-parent tip: If you’re running between Mt. Lebanon Town Center events and school pickup, keep your routine simple. Clean at night, brush in the morning, and don’t “spot clean” with random wipes.
Your 3-step routine: oil-free cleanse, dry, then spoolie
You don’t need a complicated shelf of products to protect eyelash extension lashes. You need the right habits, done gently.
1) Clean with an approved oil-free cleanser
Use clean fingertips or a soft brush and lightly work cleanser through the lash line. Rinse gently. Avoid cotton pads snagging at the base.
2) Dry without rubbing
Pat around the eyes with a towel, then let lashes air dry. If you use a blow dryer, keep it on cool and at a distance. Heat is not your friend.
3) Brush daily with a clean spoolie
Brush in the morning and after cleansing, starting mid-lash and moving outward. Don’t dig at the base. A clean spoolie prevents tangles and keeps your Hybrid set looking even.
Heads up on “cluster lashes”: store-bought clusters and strip-style adhesives aren’t the same thing as professional lash extensions. If you’ve used clusters before, tell us so we can help you avoid residue and get the cleanest lash line possible.
Fills every 2 to 3 weeks: the easiest way to stay full
Hybrid sets look their best when you keep up with fills. Most people need a fill every 2 to 3 weeks to maintain that blend of length and density. If you’re noticing gaps earlier, that usually points to lifestyle factors like oily skincare, sleeping face-down, lots of sweating, or pool time.
We’re right in the Greentree Road corridor, convenient for Mt. Lebanon, Dormont, Castle Shannon, Brookline, and Carnegie. If your schedule is tight, we’ll help you plan fills so you’re not showing up at week four trying to rescue a set that’s already too sparse.
If it’s your first set: our therapists will map the look to your eye shape and natural lashes. Clients often tell us they didn’t know what length or style to pick until we guided them, and that’s exactly what we’re here for.

“I have been going to this Deka Lash location for years. Even when I was living in Miami, I would fly back to get done because I trust these girls so much.”
one of our regulars
A little shedding is normal because your natural lashes shed. One or two extensions here and there in the first few days can happen too. What we don’t want is you feeling uncomfortable or trying to “fix” something yourself.
Usually normal
- A few lashes shedding across the week.
- A slightly “different” feeling the first day while you get used to them.
- Minor tangles in the morning that brush out easily with a clean spoolie.
